Red-tailed Hawk

It was a sunny day and I had to run an errand so I grabbed my camera.  Good thing I did.  I pulled into a drive to try to capture this Red-tailed Hawk.  It wasn't looking my way so I whistled.  The last picture is after it flew away from me.

Thanksgiving 2017

Finally some nice weather on Thanksgiving.  Dean, Jon, Jake and I got out for a short jaunt.  It was strangely still outside.

Four bucks

Here are pictures of  four different bucks I'm seeing.  One has the bigger rack, two are missing one side of antlers but on different sides and the other is just smaller than the big one.  Not the clearest pictures but helps with identification.

New camera angle - a very busy night and some interesting timing

I put my camera on a fence pole facing back the other direction.  I was continually seeing the backs of coyotes so I thought I will catch them the other way.  Well, as you will see, I'm still seeing them going rather than coming but a very lively night including my first picture of an opossum which I'm not that excited about but stay tuned.

Here is the camera location...

7:39pm - First up we have appears to be a coyote running away from the camera

7:41pm - Out pops an opossum perhaps waiting for the coyote to pass safely

7:50pm - And now we have a raccoon joining the parade

12:58am - Finally a red fox from the front!

1:29am - A buck

4:24am - Coyote again

5:47am - And finally coyote on the run

Morning buck

Russ helped me spot this guy this morning.  Smaller rack and not the one missing one side.

He came back a few hours later and I went out to the back fence and got these pictures.  He was turned away from me and I actually said "hey" and he turned around for me.

Exit stage left...

I cannot complain about the recent activity.  This post will look very similar to other recent posts but what caught my eye is the coyote turning left at the fence.  While it's no surprise that coyotes hunt our entire neighborhood, there is something about thinking that they are "right there"...moving along our fence line.

Turning left at the corner...

And Mr. Fox.  Still waiting for a clearer picture.

Fall colors of a different type

I didn't get out to see as many leaves as I wanted but if you look close, there are things all around changing for the season.

1/2 Off

I'm sure there is a story behind this.  This buck is missing something...

Passing in the night

Here we see a coyote around 9:55pm.  Russ and I were out at 10:02pm.  And then a red fox passes through at 10:15pm.  Apparently, just another night.  I'm thinking the coyote saw a rabbit in our yard.

And here is the fox...
