I was on a side street near our house yesterday when I thought I saw a Wild Turkey. As I got closer, I realized I was staring at a Turkey Vulture. I've seen them on the ground but never this close. So I stopped and snapped this picture. Not a pretty sight but doing a necessary job. They make up for their looks with being beautiful flyers...
Welcome to Sawyers Landing. My goal is to share things I see from our backyard and neighboring woods and trails.

Russ and the bunny
To say "Russ and a bunny" in the same sentence is something we do almost daily as they drive him crazy. This one got a little closer than normal...
Here you can see them in the same picture...

The Robins have flown the nest
The baby Robins left the nest for good last Tuesday from what I can tell. Here are the last photos in the nest and one in the tree finding its way...

The Robins are getting bigger (NestCam update)
Looks like we have three babies in the nest. The first two pictures were taken not quite a week before the last four and you can see how they are growing.
Nursing fawn
We've seen quite a few things out the back window since we moved here but the other day tops it for me (yes, even more than seeing my fox). I was watching a doe move along the fence and here comes a fawn out to join its mom. I've seen that many times before. But then the fawn lunged under mom and started nursing. So I quickly shot some video not thinking I could catch a good photo. Quite a sight...the fawn was just wagging its tail.

Robin update
I can't tell how many babies are in the nest. I've only seen one head pop up.
Here is the mother and here is a baby looking to get fed...
