Resting for a hopefully busy night. Owl was about 10 feet off the ground. They are not easily rattled or spooked. I walked underneath one on a power line a few nights ago walking Kyanne and it just watched me go by.
Welcome to Sawyers Landing. My goal is to share things I see from our backyard and neighboring woods and trails.

The early owl gets the worm
I did not realize that Barred Owls will hunt for earthworms. They are opportunistic hunters. I saw owls over three mornings after it had rained. Two of the days I saw in the same spot, and I saw them in the street, and you could tell they were grabbing something. Not great photos you can see where they were...

And here was this Barred Owl sitting in our yard. Cindy thought maybe it was hurt. I went outside in an effort to shoo it away.

Well, Owl Be!
I was looking out the back window with Kyanne for a minute and saw a shape of something flying into our tree by the back fence. From the size, I knew it was a hawk, owl or vulture.
I went out to take a look, and here is a Barred Owl hanging out...
