Finally warm enough to stand at the fence for a few minutes

Here is what I saw (and heard)...

The usual crowd of White-breasted Nuthatches, Black-capped Chickadees and Dark-Eyed Juncos were around.

I was looking through my camera view finder and I heard a loud noise from the feeder.  It doesn't happen often when I'm standing there but in flew a Red-bellied Woodpecker...

And finally the quick to land and quick to leave Black-capped Chickadee...

The latest from my trail camera

I put the camera out Friday evening into this morning (Sunday).  Two different vantage points.

Here's what I captured:

A coyote on the hunt for something (likely a rabbit)....

A fox squirrel getting busted by my Squirrel Buster feeder...

And two different woodpeckers (Downy and Red-Bellied)...

I finally got my close-up of a Red-bellied Woodpecker

A good day at the feeder today.  Most of the day was sunny and a lot of activity.

A little overcast at the time, here is a Downy Woodpecker...

This White-breasted Nuthatch found a peanut...

And here is the moment I have wanted for the last five years...a close-up of a Red-bellied Woodpecker taken by me and not my trail camera.  They often feed on the ground but do come to the feeder.  One has never come to the feeder when I have been standing at the fence like I do.  I saw this one in the trees and started following it with my camera.  It was moving tree to tree closer to the feeder.  You'll see it in the trees...that was just before it landed on the feeder.  It flew twice to the feeder without lighting and finally stayed long enough for me to get a few pictures.  Having it on the feeder and having a bright sunny day was a thrill!

A Red-bellied Woodpecker "bellies" up to the feeding area

I'm trying to use up some old seed and had my feeder out this weekend.  I noticed a Red-bellied Woodpecker feeding on the ground so I set my trail camera on the ground this afternoon.  There was some sun today but you can see I was losing it.

Let the trail camera do the work

I came home at lunch the other day and it was sunny so I put the feeder and trail camera out.

Here's a sampling of what I got (no squirrels)...
