Frost warning last night

Good night of activity.  You'll see the food of choice behind my fence are Honey Locust seed pods.

Steve impressed with this buck.  Trying to determine how many different bucks I'm seeing.  He thinks this one is around 3.5 years.  Would score in the 140s.  Thinks the one I showed him was older.  This one needs a few more years to be good.  Would probably end up in the 170s.

Look at the last few pictures...the buck is just out of view but breathing on the camera :)

Watch the buck come around the corner

We had a pretty good storm last night

I wasn't sure what I'd see on the camera.  Heavy rain, thunder and lightning.  But it appears to be business as usual for these deer.

More buck images.  Steve says this is a different buck than the other night.  This is probably a four-year-old.  The one from the other night was likely a three-year-old.  He said in the next two weeks I'll really see their necks swell up and put on a lot of weight for the rut.  They muscle up to fight.

Two bucks and a coyote

I got my trail camera last Christmas so this is my first fall season.  So far, so good...

The buck below is likely a three-year-old according to Steve and would score around 130.

Things are busier now that it is fall

More activity last night including what we call our "baby buck".  What are the chances that this is the same doe that wanted the close-up two nights ago?

It was a busy night last night

I've had a dry spell of late with the trail camera.  But checking it this morning I was surprised I had 132 images.  The camera is set up to take 4 pictures in succession, but even so, that's probably 5x as many as I would hope for.

Before I get to the pictures, Cindy and I were awakened at around 2:40am to the sound of howling and barking/yipping.  We could tell it was a coyote but had to listen to see if a dog was involved and we determined it was all coyote.  Quite the ruckus.

Here's what I captured last night (coyote, raccoon, deer including two different bucks)...

This one got a little too close...

Happy Birthday Cindy!

Friday the 7th is Cindy's birthday.  She is responsible for one of my favorite pictures on this blog...so I'm reposting.

She is dedicated to the cause!

Happy Birthday!

Jake and Russ

Jake has been our dog sitter when we've gone out of town.  It's Russ...what can we say.

Here is the bond they share...

And here is a picture Jake took of Russ over the weekend.  I love to see how Jake "sees" Russ...
