2016 - My favorite pictures of the year

I haven't done this before, but I thought I would go through all of my posts and pick out the photos I liked the best (whether I took them or from my trail camera).  I will post them in chronological order (oldest to newest)...ranking them would be hard and really not necessary.  Although I would love to hear from my readers which pictures were your favorites.

This year was highlighted by the first picture of a coyote (in January) and this being the first full year of having my newer trail camera.  I certainly tried to get every possible angle.

Not everyone shares my love of squirrels.  There are a total of 10 images I chose that feature or include a squirrel.

Here we go...

JANUARY

First coyote photo

Red-bellied Woodpecker x 2

The caption for this squirrel should be "Uh, excuse me.  The others sent me to tell you we are out of bird seed..."

The "listening tree"

A matter of perspective

Red-tailed Hawk (I still see one in the woods)

Which one of these is not like the other?

FEBRUARY

Not a great photo but my only "capture" of a Cooper's Hawk

MARCH

Coyote Crossing

"Hello!"

APRIL

I was hoping this Eastern Bluebird would nest but I didn't see any after this day.

Nice try!

Bye-bye

MAY

Scram!

JUNE

JULY

My best American Goldfinch so far.

Love the photo below.  Wish it was running toward the camera.

No butterfly bush but I do get butterflies...

AUGUST

Morning clouds

SEPTEMBER

Got lucky with this Fox Squirrel (although they always come back to look at you)

OCTOBER

Doe close-up and buck breath

Break time

This woodchuck lives at the corner of Meredith Dr. and Beaver Ave.

Maple in my front yard

Decoy?

NOVEMBER

Red Fox

DECEMBER

I was on the lookout for this Red-tailed Hawk near the bike trail

Coyote (looks well fed)

And ending with a sunny day at the feeder.  I can always count on White-breasted Nuthatches.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ~ Here's to 2017!
